Today is the definition of conflicting emotions. First, we are
incredibly sad in announcing Danny Ray has left us. The
conflict is that we are comforted by knowing his suffering is at an
end and the rejoicing that he is home with his Lord.
A heartfelt "Thank You" seems so inadequate for the amazing support
you have all showed the Hardman Family over the last months.
Rest assured ,it made a huge impact on Danny Ray and he left this
world knowing how much he was loved. This is not the end of
Danny Ray's story, of that we are certain. We will post
details as soon as we can on arrangements. For now, we ask
that you pray for the entire family through their time of grieving.

Dear friends,
Our family had a great time Saturday morning in the
Forney Homecoming parade. Our float theme was
"Mowing Down Cancer Thanks Forney from the bottom of our
Heart". Dan was riding in the cab of the pickup, & it
really lifted his spirits to be able to see those of you
waiving at us & shouting your support.

It was a rough day at our house yesterday, Dan was
experiencing pain. We are asking you to please lift him
up & pray that his pain level doesn't spike more.
Hospice has been managing his pain for some time now &
has been able to control it well. We have bad days
and we have good days that we fake, but we continually
thank God for each new day! The children are so
glad that their daddy is still at home & enjoying every
minute with him.
I am in lymphedema therapy to learn how to help prevent
& control swelling on my left arm. Last week I had
several doctor's appointments & test to prepare for
chemo. My first treatment will be this Thursday.
Thanks to everyone for your many continued prayers!

Hello everyone! I am excited to share
some great news with you. We are all at home
together. Dan was released from the hospital & got to
come home Tuesday evening. He is getting settled
in & adjusting well. We are all so happy he is
home. I had surgery early this morning to place my
port for my upcoming chemo treatments. It went
well & I was back home by early afternoon.
Thanks for all of your continued prayers for our family.
Amy
Hello all! This past
Saturday, Dan woke to find that his j-tube/
feeding tube was not in proper position. The
majority of the tube had moved out of his body because
the positioning balloon had deflated. He had to go
to OR had have another new j-tube/feeding tube placed.
The procedure went smooth and by Sunday he was awake &
alert most of the day. I am thrilled that for
several days he has remained awake & alert. We are
contributing that to new managed pain care. It has
also allowed him to rest better through the night.
His spirit is good.
I am so happy to share that the plan is for him to come home any day now. Our family, our children & I are grateful that we will get to share time with Dan in the comfort of our home.
Laney & Clancy are back into the school routine & have started soccer practice for this season. Cash is back with his buddies at his sitter's house & he is so proud that he had his very first soccer practice last week.
I am recovering well from the bi-lateral mastectomy. I am scheduled for day surgery next week to have a chemo port placed & I have already begun lymphedema prevention therapy.
I will say the road we are traveling and the trials we are facing as a family are very difficult and at times seem very unfair to us. We continue to be lifted by the support & comfort of those close to us and even by those we don't personally know, but most of all by all of your prayers.
A big Thank you to everyone who has had a hand in coordinating and providing dinners for us. It is a huge help & very appreciated.
Amy
Dear family & friends,
I apologize that it has been a while since the last
update. As many of you know I had bi-lateral
We wanted to update you on the status of things in our world.
While many of you know, we want to communicate
clearly as far as medical diagnoses for both Danny Ray and Amy.
The plan right now is that Amy will undergo a
double mastectomy for breast cancer on Wednesday August 10.
This cancer is already in her lymph nodes and the surgery
cannot be put off.
As many of you know, last Wednesday, Aug 3,
Darla, Amy and Danny Ray made
the journey to MD Anderson in Houston. While this has been the plan
all along, the timing of the trip has been an obstacle. With the
pressing need of Amy’s surgery drawing near, the time had come for
them to go for it. Danny Ray’s doctors were in total support of this
decision as MDA is the leader in cancer treatments in the country.
While they have felt this was a huge step, everyone has been very
hopeful that this second opinion was going to be a turning point in
the treatment he will receive.
The Doctors at MDA concurred with the
diagnosis/prognosis that has been received in Dallas.
Danny Ray’s cancer is in advanced stages. It has continued to
progress and is now apparent in his bones. The prognosis at this
point is that he has between 1 and 2 months to live. His cancer is
considered medically terminal. It has been clear to those close to
the situation that it would take a miracle to heal DR. However, we
have hesitated to share as much for fear of those who have committed
to pray losing hope.
It is the heart of all that we pray for a
miracle and believe in Jehovah Rapha (the God that heals) to place
his hands on Danny Ray and deliver him from this cancer. We do not
know if that deliverance will be on this Earth or in Heaven, but we
know that God’s Will shall be
done. He is Jehovah Jireh (our Provider) who will supply all that we
need in whatever situation. God will receive the Glory for all that
He has done in our lives.
In the meantime, prayers for no complications
for Amy’s surgery and recovery are coveted. Prayers for Danny Ray’s
pain to cease are beyond measure.
Friends who can be near for each of them in the
coming days are invaluable. While Danny Ray will be returning to
Presbyterian where the nurses who know and love him will care for
him, Amy will be at Baylor Plano for her surgery and recovery. In
this time when partners cannot be there for each other, your
presence in person and in prayer will be immeasurable.
The kids continue to be strong and have the
peace and faith that only children can truly know. Laney, Clancy and
Cash are amazing and their parents thrive on knowing they are loved
and cared for by so many. Thank you for your continued support and
genuine love for them. Your continued prayers will be what sustains
them in the days ahead.
All of this being said; WE BELIEVE that God’s
hand is in control and while it seems surreal that any family would
undergo so much trial-we know that God’s Will is stronger and more
powerful than anything we may desire for ourselves! Please believe
with us for His Will for the lives of Danny and Amy to be greater
than we can imagine, more amazing than we can conceive and their
days be numbered to infinity… that they may grow old with one
another and His Glory be the remnant of their lives.
Here is the latest update I have from
Amy. As you can imagine, the last couple of weeks
have been pretty trying, so it has been a while since
she sent me an update. This one is long and packed
full of info.
Hi everyone! We are taking things day by day. We had a
wonderful Memorial service in honor of JR on Friday. I
would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who
helped out Dan, myself, Darla & Jack. It would not have
been possible with everything else going on without each
and everyone of you. Also, our daughter Laney turned 11
on Saturday and she had a wonderful birthday weekend. A
BIG THANK YOU to those that help make it possible.
Dan is scheduled to be released from the hospital
mid-week. He is more alert this past week, but still
experiencing some unwanted pain & nausea. I will
have 3 appointments this week and should know by weeks
end when I am scheduled for surgery. So far the plan for
myself looks like I will have a double mastectomy with
port installed at that time, chemo for several months
followed by radiation. All the details are still unclear
as two of my appointments this week are with breast
surgeons.
Dan & I both would appreciate your continued prayers. We
ask that in addition to praying for our healing that you
lift our children up by praying for their continued
strength.
Hi everyone!
Dan is doing good today he had his
5th chemo treatment today. His dr switched him back the
the chemo drugs he had for the 1st two treatments, which
do not make him as nauseated. He is sleeping well.
I had an appt with the breast surgeon
today & the course of action is still unclear, but the
next step is an MRI. I do have breast cancer in my left
breast & possibly a lymph node. I had a needle biopsy
for that today & labs drawn for genetic testing. Both of
my grandmother's were breast cancer survivors.
Now sit down......
My father'n'law was rushed to the
hospital today w abdominal pain. I have been told by one
of the surgeons he has a blood clot in his intestine. He
is in surgery now & I have been told it is life
threatening. Please get on your knees & pray for our
whole family.
Also, Cash is running a fever & I
will be taking him to the doctor in the morning.
~MOWING DOWN CANCER from here there
and everywhere!!
Dan's j-tube/feeding tube was
replaced yesterday. His spirits are better and has less
pain. I expect we will be in the hospital through the
weekend. Thanks for your continued prayers!
~MOWING DOWN CANCER from room 237!
Dan has still been experiencing pain
associated with his J-tube/feeding tube. The pain is
getting worse & for the past few days he has needed pain
meds more frequently. The surgeon on Monday thought the
site looked infected, but was just normal infection
associated with a foreign object in the body. He did
however have a wound specialist follow up & look at it
Tuesday who asked another surgeon to look at it & to
consider doing an ultrasound since it's so painful to
Dan. On Tuesday they swabbed the site & sent it for
culture. Yesterday afternoon his fever reached 102 so
they are now doing blood cultures. The second surgeon
came by late yesterday, but it was very painful for Dan
when he tried to examine it, so today he will go to
radiology in case he has to be sedated so they can
examine it thoroughly.
Please pray over this surgeon that he
is able to determine why Dan is having the pain so they
can get it corrected & for Dan's pain to subside.
Thank you for continued prayers.
~ MOWING DOWN CANCER from room 237!
We expected to go home yesterday, but
on Sunday evening Dan's feeding tube was briefly
clogged & he began having more than normal pain
associated with a foreign object being surgically placed
so his dr decided to watch him all day. Last night he
started running a low fever. We have seen the dr this
morn who is concerned & is requesting the surgeon look
at it.
Dan has a Gtube from his stomach for
drainage so anything he takes in oral comes directly out
into a bag & is just for taste. The Jtube is surgically
place in his intestine so please pray for them to find
the reason for pain with the Jtube as it is his only
source of receiving
nutrition & where I administer all medication
when at home. ~MOWING DOWN CANCER from room 237!
